The 'MGRS' is derived from the 'Universal Transverse Mercator' ('UTM') grid system and the universal polar stereographic ('UPS') grid system, but uses a different labeling convention. The 'MGRS' is used for the entire earth. Methods are provided to convert 'MGRS' coordinates to and from other coordinate systems. authors: - family-names: Rudis given-names: Bob email: bob@rud.is orcid: https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5670-2640 repository: https://b-cubed-eu.r-universe.dev repository-code: https://gitlab.com/hrbrmstr/mgrs commit: 6ad14411cdac5195547f579f10b793a7f7f75ef1 url: https://gitlab.com/hrbrmstr/mgrs date-released: '2023-12-16' contact: - family-names: Rudis given-names: Bob email: bob@rud.is orcid: https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5670-2640
